As we enter 2025, it is crucial for businesses in the Philippines to prepare for the year’s holidays. Whether you manage a team, oversee operations, or plan marketing campaigns, understanding the holiday calendar can help you maximise productivity and promote work-life balance.

Below is a summary of the Philippines Regular Holidays, Special Non-Working Days, and expected holiday proclamations.

Holiday pay guidelines in the Philippines

Regular Holidays

  • If no work is performed: Staff are entitled to receive 100% of their daily wage.
  • If work is performed: Staff must be compensated with 200% of their daily wage for the first eight hours of work.
    • Overtime Pay: For work exceeding eight hours, staff are entitled to an additional 30% of their hourly rate on top of the regular holiday pay.

Special (Non-Working) Holidays allow for more flexible pay arrangements based on mutual agreements, while still adhering to labor standards:

  • If work is performed: Staff are typically granted an additional 30% of their daily wage for the first eight hours.
    • Overtime Pay: If work exceeds eight hours, staff must receive an additional 30% of their hourly rate, similar to regular holiday guidelines.
  • If no work is performed: A “no work, no pay” policy may apply if stated in the Job Offer/Contract, provided it aligns with labor laws and is clearly communicated and agreed upon with the staff. Additionally, if the staff wish to observe a holiday and have a shift, they must obtain approval from the client to file for leave.

Case-by-Case Approach

We understand that every business has unique operational requirements. Deployed works closely with each client and their staff to determine suitable holiday pay arrangements on a case-by-case basis. This ensures fairness, compliance with Philippine labor laws, and mutual agreement between all parties involved.
